Love knows no gender is a youth forum which began in september 2005, Not really knowing what it was all about, We met for the first time and our aims were so clear, Our aim was and still is to prevent homophobic bullying (anti-gay) in schools in the Derbyshire area.
This is something that all the forum members feel passionate about and an issue that we feel needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. Too many LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans) people have experienced problems in later life due to the homophobic experiences in schools.
We wanted to represent the young LGBT people in Derbyshire in a positive way, it is so easy to brand gay people with typical stereotypes, but we as we all know that is exacxtly what they are....stereotypes.
That is why we have produced several magazines and also to show young people who are dealing with their sexuality that its not wrong to have these feelings.
Why be another statistic?
Why not do something to change it?
School is meant to be the best time of your life, you hear people say, unfortunately that isn't always the case but that's what we want to change for LGBT young people and in time are determined that it will work!
You can do anything if you put your mind to it!
